The most prominent contribution that Malacca has lent to the Malaysian cultural landscape is the Baba-Nyonya culture.  Baba - Nyonya, the Peranakan Chinese or Straits - Born Chinese, are the descendants of Chinese who came from Malay archipelago including the British  Malaya. Baba which means 'men' and Nyonyan 'women'. 

Giving an entirely new blend of customs, traditions, food and lifestyle, the people of Malacca are still and will be prominent throughout the city.
